Like or not, USB C headphones are likely to become the new standard for smartphones. It's either gonna be that, using an adapter, or wireless options.

Even Samsung who used to make fun of iPhones for not having a 3.5 jack has switched to USB Type-C headphone support only. So, you get our point.

And while there will always be wireless alternatives, some people just don't want to get rid of cables. That being said, here are the best USB Type-C headphones that you can get right now!

1: WamGra: Best USB C Headphones for In-Ear Haters

Don't like in-ear canal headphones? Then as far as USB Type-C headphones are concerned, this is quite possibly your best choice.

They are affordable while offering great sound quality and as you can see in the image above, they are also compatible with a ton of devices out there.

If you are reading this with a data saver and can't see the image, those are the supported devices (According to the manufacturer):

  1. Google Pixel 3/3XL/2/2XL
  2. LG G6/V20
  3. Sony XZ2
  4. NOKIA 8
  5. One Plus 6T
  6. HUAWEI Mate 10/20 Pro/P20 /P30
  7. MacBook and iPad Pro 2018

Other than that, the manufacturer has mentioned that not all Motorola devices are supported. So, do keep that in mind.

Apart from excellent audio quality (For the money) and great compatibility, they also come with remote control. You can use that to answer or reject calls, raise or lower the music volume, and switch tracks as well.

Furthermore, we're also getting a built-in mic which isn't anything too fancy. But, considering the price point, we couldn't be happier with it.

At this point, let us not forget to mention that the mic doesn't work with some devices. More specifically, phones that already offer a 3.5mm jack are unlikely to cooperate.

Then again, if your phone comes with a 3.5mm jack, chances are that wouldn't be reading this article anyway. But, just saying.

The description mentions that noise canceling is supported. But, take that info with a grain of salt. For less than 20 bucks, we're honestly not expecting any crazy results.

One thing that's very surprising at this price point is the overall build quality and aesthetics. Sure, they are not exactly the fanciest thing around. But, you'll have to admit that they still look rather good.

Pros:

  • Good audio quality
  • Affordable
  • Simple and comfortable design
  • Built-in Mic
  • Supports a lot of smartphones

Cons:

  • Noise-canceling isn't good (Can't complain at this price point, though)

2: Razer Hammerhead: Best Fancy USB C Headphones

Razer has long been known for making excellent gaming products and the Razer Hammerhead are not an exception - sort of.

Sure, you do get the fancy gaming aesthetics and the build quality is decent as well. However, the sound quality and comfort for a product of this price point are sub-par at best. So, do keep that in mind.

We're not saying that they are bad per se. They are just not a good value.

Still, with that being said, if you're out for a new set of Type-C headphones with a fancy look and money isn't an issue, then chances are that you'll love them.

At this point in time, USB C headphones are so rare that as far as design is concerned, Razer hammerhead has no competition whatsoever.

And we're not just talking about the logo or the overall design, but also about the sleek and beautiful cables.

The one thing that's not that great is the audio quality. The headphones themselves cost about $70, but they don't sound much better than other options at $20-30.

Usually, what you pay is what you get. But, in this case, it feels like we're paying extra not only for build quality and aesthetics but also for the name.

Pros:

  • Very beautiful
  • Cables feel durable and they never get all tangled up
  • Solid build quality

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Sub-par audio quality for headphones of this price point
  • Not everyone is a fan of the in-ear design

Overall, the Razer Hammerhead is a good option for those who want not just good audio, but also beautiful aesthetics. Just be prepared to reach a bit deeper into your pocket.

3: SUMWE Hi-Fi: Great Audio USB C Audio Quality

As far as audio quality is concerned, the Sumwe is one of the best Type-C headphones that you can get right now. They achieve great results not only through good design but also thanks to the built-in DAC.

In case you're not familiar with it, DAC stands for Digital Analog Converter. It's one of the most important parts that contribute to sound quality.

Our phones always have some form of DAC installed on them. But, USB C headphones come with their own DAC instead. That's why some of them may sound so much better or worse compared to others.

According to the manufacturers, the sound quality can get as high as 24-bit 192 kHz, which is right up there on audiophile territory.

Obviously, you can't expect to get an audiophile experience from headphones that sit around the $30 range. After all, actual audiophile headphones ask for at least $120 along with a good stand-alone DAC that delivers good audio.

But, hey - if we can get any extra features, why not? Just do keep in mind that you'll also need the appropriate sound files and player to take advantage of the higher range frequency.

FLAC is one of the most popular formats that offer lossless audio while PowerAmp is one of the most popular Android apps that support lossless playback.

Pros:

  • Good audio quality
  • Support for lossless audio playback
  • Decent design
  • Price is just about right

Cons:

  • In-ear design may annoy some people

Overall, if sound quality is your top priority, then do seriously consider getting the Sumwe.

Conclusion

That's about it for now. At this moment, there are not a whole lot of options out there. But, we assume that as time goes on, more and more manufacturers are going to join in on the Type-C world.
