What is Launcher3? Why does it keep on crashing? How can I fix it? And what is a launcher in general?

This article aims to answer all of these questions in detail. So, if you're interested in that sort of thing, keep on reading!

What is Launcher3?

Launcher3 is, well, an Android launcher. In case you're not familiar with it, your launcher is the first thing that you see after unlocking your phone. It's the app that gives you access to widgets and apps as well.

And Launcher3 is just that. Just another Launcher. If memory serves right, it should be quite old now. We haven't seen it since 2010 on our first Huawei phone. But, since there are people asking about it, we suppose that it's still around somewhere - somehow.

If you're encountering the common issue where it keeps on crashing randomly, you could try clearing its cache and/or data. It's one of the solutions that work almost always - after, of course, the traditional reboot.

To clear your launcher's cache or data, go to:

  1. Phone settings
  2. Apps
  3. All apps
  4. Launcher3
  5. Clear cache - data

Keep in mind that the exact steps may differ from phone to phone depending on the OS version and skin. For example, Android 10 requires you to go through an extra layer that's called "Manage apps" and once you're selected an app you must also tap on "Clear data" before finally choosing to clear all the app's data or cache only.

Launchers can crash for a number of reasons. It could be one of the widgets that don't play well with it, an update that ruined something, or anything like that.

Usually, simply clearing the cache, data, or rebooting your phone fixes the issue. Worst case scenario, you'll have to perform a factory reset. Just keep in mind that this would wipe everything on your smartphone.

Alternatively, you could also try installing a 3rd party launcher.

How to Install 3rd Party Launchers

Installing a 3rd party launcher is fairly easy. All you have to do is head over to Google Play, type in "Launcher" on the search bar, then you install the launcher of your choice and that's about it.
