So, in case you haven't heard about it, Samsung just canceled the much awaited Galaxy Fold's release - for now. Why? And when can we expect it to come out?

Samsung Galaxy Fold's Release is Indefinitely Postponed

The Galaxy Fold was supposed to launch on April 26, meaning this Friday. However, due to numerous reports of malfunctioning units, Samsung indefinitely postponed its release.

Now, we don't have any information on when it'll actually get released. However, Samsung has mentioned that they will announce a new release date on the upcoming weeks. So, stay tuned!

The question is, why? The Galaxy Fold is Samsung's first handheld device to flirt with a near $2K price tag. So, what went wrong?

What we know for now is that endurance issues have been found with the flexible display. That was somewhat of a worry for most of us. And it turns out that we were right to worry.

Samsung is saying that they will investigate and see what it is that's causing this issue. For now, they are suspecting that the damage was caused by impact on the top and bottom hinges of the device - since those are exposed.

Furthermore, Samsung has also mentioned that they found specific substances in the early review models that may have affected the screen's performance. Still, no matter how you look at it, a tablet that costs almost two grand should be able to withstand some slight impacts. But, that's up to you to judge.

Last, but not least, some early reviewers were able to peel off a layer of the screen as they mistook it for a screen protector. On that part, Samsung is saying that they are going to reinforce that layer.

So, that's all for now. Hopefully those issues will get fixed and we'll get to see the Galaxy Fold thrive on the market.

What About The Competition?

The Galaxy Fold's release may have been postponed. But, it's not the only foldable phone that we're looking out for. So, what about the others?

No. The Royale FlexPai doesn't count as competition. That was awful to begin with and nobody cares on if it showcased any problems are not.

If there's one foldable phone/tablet that we're keeping our eyes on, then that would be the Huawei Mate X. And so far, no delays have been announced.

Though, to be fair, the Mate X is supposed to come out this Summer on June. Still, better late than ever and we'll see how that release goes.

That's all we got for now. If you feel like we forgot to mention something important then let us and everyone else know about it in the comments section down below!
