With the Nexus variant receiving an OTA Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, the Xperia devices haven’t been left behind. Sony has recently rolled out an OTA Marshmallow beta update for the Xperia Z3 (D6603) or Xperia Z3 Compact (D5803). The Marshmallow build number MRA58K.Z1.2085 will feature improvements such as a double tap to wake the display screen, a revamped keyboard, MIDI support via USB, higher bitrate flac audio support.
Sony is using this Marshmallow beta update to be able to more responsive, in designing and releasing Android OS to their Sony devices. If your Xperia Z3 or Z3 Compact that’s registered for a beta testing, you should look out for the update on your device. However, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will be over-the-air thus the roll out may take a while to reach your device especially considering the test is limited to users in chosen European countries. If you own one of these devices, you can simply download Sony’s Concept for Android app and sign up to try out the concept Marshmallow build.
When your Xperia device receives the update, the software build number will be switched to MRA58K.Z1.2085.
However, if you miss out on the registration there are Android 6.0 Marshmallow build for Sony via FTF firmware zip files available for manual download.
