Research firm TrendForce has posted the Q2 smartphone sales record, showing us that Samsung managed to sell 71 million mobile devices, out of a total of 221 million smartphones. Out of this 71 million shipments, 23.4 million were Galaxy S4 units.
What’s interesting is that we have previously heard lots of critics about the Galaxy S4 sales going down, and now we can see they are doing quite good. Slowly Samsung is heading towards new sales records with the Galaxy S4.
Besides this, Samsung also managed to become the most profitable smartphone manufacturer, after years of Apple domination. In Q2, Apple managed to sell $35.2 billion and profited from $6.9 billion. Meanwhile Samsung sold $50 billion and recorded a profit of $8.33 billion. This is also the result of the 23.4 million Galaxy S4 sold in the previous quarter.

However Samsung has a very broad range of devices, and while they are selling this large amounts of mobile devices, Apple manages to sell only one type of device. This has to be more impressive, though as overall business the model used by Samsung is more profitable, as we have seen this previous quarter.
This can only be good news for Samsung investors, especially with the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 that is supposed to be a breakthrough device and to boost up sales even more.
