Samsung usually unveils its latest Galaxy S series handset during the Mobile World Congress, which is an annual trade show that runs between February 22nd and February 25th. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were also officially announced in the same event last year. For the third year running, Samsung will release its new flagship devices.
Rumors reveal that the Korean manufacturer will unleash three Samsung smartphones at the upcoming show, which will include the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and the Galaxy S7 Edge+. This is as Samsung attempts remain one of the giants in the Android smartphones market, which has become increasingly competitive over the years with Chinese manufacturers like Huawei and Xiaomi also invading the market and gaining their own acclaimed popularity.

Over the past few months, there have been a lot of speculation as to when the official launch of the Galaxy S7 flagship series will be. However, the release date of the devices has still not yet been disclosed, with reports showing that a March 11th release date is likely for the USA and Europe markets. This would mean that the new flagships will be on sale earlier compared to last year’s Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge which hit the market a almost a month later. Also, still up in the air is the product range of devices the company may or may not be unveiling.
Originally, it was rumoured that Samsung would release four separate Galaxy flagships including a Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7+ and an S7 Edge+. Later on, leaks seemed to have retracted the idea with one recent leak even claiming that the Galaxy S7 Edge+ had been cancelled.
As for the official unveiling of the Galaxy S7 flagship variants, Samsung won’t be the only one. Its LG rival is also expected to hold its own event in Barcelona on the same day, with their LG G5 flagship expected to be launched ahead of the MWC. Reports also claim that the MWC event will see the Huawei company announce the P9, with Xiaomi unleashing a brand new Xiaomi Mi 5 to the world on February 24th.
