Samsung didn't do that well with Galaxy Gear last year. Even if they expected to score it big with this products, the South Korean manufacturer's high-tech watch sold in over 800.000 units, a lower number than expected. Even worse, these were sales to retailers, not to final consumers. The smartwatch was selling with $345 but Samsung officials revealed that they will drop the price in India to $225 to gain more customers. We think that Samsung made a sales mistake. Priced too high Galaxy Gear wasn't such an affordable watch, so the sales where underestimated. Dropping the price to $250, Samsung seems that realized the big mistake they made and probably Galaxy Gear 2 will have a more realistic price. In December it was stated that Gear 2 will be brought to light at MWC this month. The Galaxy Gear 2 is set to be different that the first model and will probably have a flexible screen and an innovative design. It is claimed that it will be sold at a price lower than $299, a similar price to the iWatch. The final price isn't set yet,as Samsung is still discussing with their partners.iWatch is still a rumour, but this bring a great moment for Samsung with the leaks about the new Gear 2. Even if officially nothing was disclosed launching a new watch with flexible screen and a price of under $299 will give a huge momentum to Gear 2.We hope will see it at barcelona in two weeks.
