With it being a new month, expectedly, Google has released its May Android security update, making the factory images available for download.
Although the security patch won’t impact the software version of your device, it will boost its security overall. Factory images are now available for the Nexus 5 (MOB30H), Nexus 5X (MTC19T), Nexus 6 (MOB30I and MMB30G), Nexus 6P (MTC19T), Nexus 7 (2013) Wifi (MOB30J), Nexus 7 (2013) LTE (MOB30J), Pixel C (MXC89F), Nexus 9 LTE (MOB30G), Nexus Player (MOB30G), and the Nexus 9 Wi-Fi (MOB30G).
For those not patient enough to wait for the OTA update, they can manually download the factory images here.
In addition, Google has also posted the release notes for May’s Android security patch. For more details on this update, you can visit the Android Security Bulletin website. Of the 25 security issues mentioned, only 6 of these were pegged critical, with Google noting that there were cases of any device being exploited by these vulnerabilities.
