The android community is expecting to get Nougat, the upcoming version of the mobile OS, sometimes later this year. As usual before a major OS update by Google, there’s been a lot of speculation regarding what new features are likely to be there. Google Engineers have been drawn into this debate, and through a Reddit AMA session, hinted at some of what was possible.

Speaking of generic features, there will be a newly revamped notification system. Android N will also have altered multitasking capabilities that will unlock more power from the OS. In addition to these, minor changes, fixes, and enhancements will be instituted. According to word that’s been doing rounds online, the User Interface isn’t expected to change much.

With nothing to show visually, Google must have worked hard at the very internal enhancements. That’s precisely the message that the company’s engineers conveyed during the Reddit session. The Intelligent Doze Mode in Android N will be one of the best changes, coupled with improvements such as OTA speed, kernel scheduler adjustments, JIT, and many other fine-tunes.
