The MIUI 8 Global Stable build created quite a ruckus last week when it was unveiled by Xiaomi for all its top smartphones. However, there was no MIUI 8 for Mi 5 users in India, which is the Chinese tech company’s largest market.
The MIUI 8 update rolled out right away for lower-tier devices like the Redmi Note 3, Mi2/Mi2S, Redmi 1s, and Mi4i via OTA. Mi 5 Indian users finally reported the OTA update has arrived for their devices, bringing the highly anticipated MIUI 8 along.

Some of the interesting features of MIUI 8 include Dual Apps, a revamped Calculator app, and Mi Cloud photo sync. Moreover, the new MIUI 8 for Mi 5 also comes with a built-in Caller ID and a plenty of new and refreshing themes.
What makes the MIUI 8 update so exciting is that it redesigns all the basic apps, along with the Gallery and Notes app. While the Gallery app comes with a bunch of filters and cool editing tools, the Notes app offers password and fingerprint security.
Especially for Indian users, Xiaomi has also joined hands with the popular mobile payment company MobiKwik. Along with MIUI 8 for Mi 5 and others devices, you can now make online payments using the MobiKwik service with the click of a button.
