As you know, last year Apple won a huge battle against Samsung by proving that they have infringed Apple's patents and now have to pay 1 billion dollars for that. Since then the trials is still rolling as Samsung is trying to get rid of the penalty, or reduce it. Well, this time they managed to keep it the same at least. The purpose of this trial was to prove that Samsung didn't willfully infringe Apple's patents. How is that possible? Well they say that they though that the patents were invalid, therefore they didn't consider as they were infringing anything. As Judge Lucy Koh was presented with this idea, it seems that it was enough to convince her, and thus maintain the current penalty at the previously established sum of $1.049 billion. Samsung still hasn't payed this to Apple and it will probably last a while until they will. Until then we can be sure there will be more episodes from the Samsung vs Apple trial.
