After the Galaxy Core Prime 4G was launched this month, Sammy is now taking a huge step in its battle with Lenox, Micromax and Xiaomi in India. According to Economic times, Samsung is to launch as many as 10 new smartphones in the J series which will be priced between Rs9000 and RS18000 in the next 6 months.
This is a strategic move by Samsung to gain a wider market share in the mid segment category where the Xiaomi, Lenovo and Micromax are competing heavily. The segment which these 3 brands competes holds 30% of the entire market share and Samsung also wants to increase its footprints in that segment by launching 10 more J series smartphones.
This new move is being spearheaded by HyunChil Hong the now elected Samsung President in India.
According to CMR, Samsung market reduced from 43.2% to 23.7% in 2014 as Karbonn, Intex and Micromax started gaining popularity.
Recently Sammy announced J7 and J5 in China. These two smartphones are expected to be a part of 10 smartphones set to arrive in Indian market within 6 months. However, Samsung is yet to confirm.
