In the past years, different actors have taken on the task to portray Batman, and the soon to be released Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has the most controversial role approach yet. The movie scheduled to be released on March 25th, may in the end turning heads for an entirely different reason however. A new report from Korea, has revealed that plans may be in the works by Samsung to launch a special Batman V Superman Edition of its upcoming Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone.Though the exact details are unknown, the handset is set to be one of three limited editions the Korean OEM allegedly plans to launch this year, with the other two paying homage to a Korean music art and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio respectively.According to the report, the Batman V Superman Edition may not coincide with the official release date of the movie, since it won't be released till around March or April. The phone will also unlikely be unveiled alongside the phone proper, set for February 21st.

What are the possibilities?

Fans of superheroes and the curved edge phones, may remember that a Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Edition was released last year in China and Korea. The special limited edition model was supplied in a very small quantity which was immediately sold at a hiked price on platforms such as eBay, with one even going for US$91,000. Along with the phone featuring an Iron Man 'Red' color, its set also had a similar Iron Man theme, from the wireless charger to the protective case.Although, Avengers themed cases were ultimately released for the wider smartphone series, only the Iron Man Edition received an exclusive color addition as well as the right priority. It would make sense that the Batman V Superman Edition would also be given a similar themed color and/or design embedded at the back glass plate, along with the set requirements of pre-loaded wallpapers and other customizations.

A second Iron Man Edition

An obvious approach would be a follow up of the Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Edition by likely pending handset. Another edition with an exclusive color and design, accessories to fit the theme. It could also feature a serial number and then released in an extremely limited supply for a high demand among die-hard fans, while boosting its appeal along with creating awareness with its ties to the movie.

A more low-key approach

Another possibility is Samsung simply generating a standard version of the phone with a Batman V Superman theme setting pre-installed on it. This would be different from Motorola's Droid Turbo 2 Star Wars Episode VII editions, which came with Moto Maker color and customizations to serve as a representation of the individual characters and the had wallpapers which were also available in the Google Play Store, pre-installed on the device.Samsung's special editions of its phones that were recently released, have been said to be more marketing push compared to others. The most recent is the Galaxy Note 5 Winter Edition released a few weeks ago in South Korea. The difference was mostly the devices being sold with a configured storage of 128GB, with the colors and design remaining the optional Silver Titanium and Gold Platinum offered.

Something entirely different

The last possibility could be the potential product being a mash-up of these two ideas. The Korean company could consider making to different smartphones instead of just one. For Batman specifically which is also known as The Dark Knight, Samsung could just have a Batman logo etched at the back of the Black variant of the phone and be done.On the other hand, for Superman, which is seemingly associated with the Blue and Red colours, a Red color edition or at least the Black Sapphire color making a return, though supposedly won't make a cut this year.Whatever is in store, fans of the Batman and Superman superheroes, will be very interested to see what ultimately plays out with the smartphone. What do you think about a Galaxy S7 Edge DC Comics edition in the making?
