Whether it is the two-step Verification or U2F Security Key feature to lock down your Google account, the Mountain View company has never been easy on security. Adding another useful feature to its Android OS, Google will now offer on-screen security notifications.
Google announced this new security feature on Monday and is expected to roll out soon. Users will now receive a notification to the every time their account is logged on a new device. Apart from new devices, the on-screen security notifications will also alert users about any unusual activity.
These notifications will also enable you to inspect any suspicious activity on your account by selecting “Review Account Activity”. This menu gives you general information such as what device is added using your account, its location, and other details.
If the account activity isn’t something unusual, you can dismiss it, or quickly proceed to change the password. These notifications were previously delivered via email to the user’s account, but now users are more likely to check out the notification.
Depending on your phone and region, the on-screen security notifications feature will soon roll out for all devices. Are you more likely to check out your Google account activities now that they will appear as on-screen security notifications? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
