This deal between Samsung and Boxee is profitable for each of the companies. On one hand, Samsung’s purpose is to expand its range of products for the home and even though it’s still the number one manufacturer in the area, the prices are dropping, so they need to advance the features on the media products. Since 2010, Samsung has developed the television with internet access, for which the company has implemented apps and advanced technology such as voice and motion control. Lately, Samsung has released the HomeSync media streamer which impressed with its huge 1TB storage.
On the other hand, Boxee benefits a lot from Samsung’s abundant financial resources and also its developer support. Boxee was never before able to create worldwide impressive products, so now is their chance to reaffirm. It seems that Boxee has been looking a while now for a company to buy them, so the fact that Samsung has turned out to be that company is very good news for Boxee from Boxee.
