No Need to Wait Till July; Cortana for Android Out Already!

Cortana is much awaited Android’s version of personal assistant from Microsoft. The good news in not the best of forms is it is out already. The software has been leaked accidentally. It was planned to be officially released with Windows 10 but then sometimes “plans” do go wrong. The software can be easily found online and many users are already using it.Related: Some Cool Google Now Voice Commands You Didn't Know About.The word from the early testers is that the software is similar to what we see on a typical Windows smartphone.

What’s Missing?

The software was originally suppose to be exclusive for Windows operating system but in early 2015 Microsoft announced that it plans to make the personal assistant Android and even iOS friendly. So far Cortana is working fine without crashing on most Android headsets running 5.1.Cortana works almost like Siri and Google Now and can be activated by saying “Hey Cortana”The software doesn’t work too smoothly on Android. It is unable to identify music and read out emails. It is also found lacking when it comes to notifications and privacy functions but it is understandable since we are using the software well before its official release.

Bottom Line

For Cortana to be successful it has to come up with something different, especially when it comes to other platforms, something that Android’s and Apple’s voice robots are not already offering. Until its official release next month – let’s keep our fingers crossed!
