Among BlackBerry’s main USPs is its praised security, which the company promised will remain as tight when it moved from the BlackbBerry OS to Android following the launch of their first-ever smartphone powered by Android, the BlackBerry Priv.In line with their promise BlackBerry has begun rolling out its monthly security update to their Priv device. According to BlackBerry’s Michael Clewley, the security patches have already started rolling out and will first be received by Priv devices bought unlocked specifically from the ShopBlackBerry and select carriers. The security patch update for January (AAD250) will start hitting other BlackBerry Priv carriers in the coming week.Considering there is no official changelog, it is still unknown the changes the update will bring or the vulnerabilities, the code is meant to handle. Priv owners should expect to see the over-the-air update notification on the phone any time soon. If your phone hasn’t received the update, you can manually check by going to the Settings >> About Phone >> Software Update. The Security patches will resolve privilege vulnerabilities, which is part of a code that offers something greater access than it is supposed to get. Google will focus on weaknesses such as Bluetooth, Setup Wizard, Kernel, Wi-Fi, microSD driver, Trustzone and Imagination Technologies Driver.
