As Google’s latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update is still anticipated to roll out to most Android devices, other devices are still being updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software. Huawei is among the latest to take Android 5.1.1 Lollipop plunge with the update being made available for their Ascend P7 device. The Ascend P7 was launched in 2014, with an Android 4.4.2 KitKat pre-loaded. Huawei has already made the out the over-the-air update available for the Ascend P7, which will move it from Android 4.4 KitKat OS to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The OTA update is being rolled out in phases, meaning some users may have to wait to receive the update. However, for those who feel too impatient to wait, there is pre-Marshmallow OS available for download via the Huawei website. In early June, Huawei launched an Android 5.1.1 update beta test for the Ascend P7. At the time, it was presumed that the soak test for the Ascend P7 would continue till July or early August before it would be released to the Ascend P7 phablet. However, the software update did come as expected with months post its beta public release. For a manual download of the update via the Huawei’s website, click here. If you are own an Ascend P7, you need to navigate to your Settings>> About device >> Software update >> Check for updates, to check if your device has received the update. The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update will take 1.26MB on your device, thus you need to have sufficient storage space. Ensure that you also have at least 50% battery charge.
