The Sales report on the Smartphone market for the last quarter of 2012 was published and Samsung takes only the third place after an Apple dominance on the first two places. It seems that the holiday period went really well for Apple as they managed to sell 27.4 million units of the iPhone 5 and 17.4 units of the iPhone 4S. Samsung’s flagship device, the Galaxy S3 was sold in 15.4 million units.

In Q4 Apple accounted for 12.6% and 8% of the Smartphone market with its two top devices the iPhone 5 and 4S. However in Q3 Galaxy S3 was the leader with 10.4 % compared with the 9.4% from the iPhone 4S. In the same Q3 the iPhone 5 only accounted for 3.5% of the Smartphone market.
While the Galaxy S3 ruled the smartphone market for a long time, it seems that Samsung is feeling the drawback period and prepares the launch of an outstanding device under the name of Galaxy S4. This one is supposed to take over the first place once more for Samsung, leaving Apple in the shadows again.
