The WhatsApp's double ticks which change in color when your messages are delivered, and signify that your texts have been read, caused quite a furore. However, this fact has influenced the search for WhatsApp tricks and nooks that are hidden from most of us.
1. The Blue Ticks nightmare
The blue ticks feature takes the comfort of reading a text message on your WhatsApp and choosing instead to reply later on, due to the fact that the sender is always aware immediately you read.
Trick: You can undo this by simply heading to your
Settings, then the
Privacy and disabling
Read Receipts.
2. Control your Group Chats
WhatsApp is the go-to messaging app for most of us, but one of the things you can find annoying is getting added to group chats by people you don't even know. This is why you may feel the need to keep particular details about private.
Trick: Go to your Privacy via Settings then toggle your Last Seen, Status and Profile Photo to maintain a bit of privacy. Opt to either share them with Nobody, Everyone or only your Contacts.
3. Mute Group Chats
WhatsApp group chats allow over 50 participants which almost always mean hundreds of unread messages at once.
Trick: Mute the group chats. Select the group chat of choice, tap the name to bring the Group Info which has the Mute option which allows chat muting of up to eight hours to a week or even a year. You could also choose to exit the chat altogether.
4. Create Shortcuts to Conversations
There are probably some people you chat with more than others, so why not have a shortcut to the conversations right on your homescreen. This will avoid the need of having to launch and close your WhatsApp.
Trick: Press and hold the group or individual chat you want and a menu will appear.Tap the option for Add Conversation Shortcut and the chat will pop up as its profile picture on your phone's homescreen.
5. See the exact location of your Friend
If you want to verify the present location of someone in your contacts, you can easily do so by asking them to share with you their current location. They can simply tap the arrow icon near the text box and then select Share Location. You also have a way of ensuring that they don't enter the location manually.
Trick: How the location appears will tell you if its the true location or a manual set location. It its a GPS-based location then the shared kocation will be shown as a dropped pin, however, if its a manual entered location, it will appear next to the dropped pin.
6. Use WhatsApp on the Web on your PC
WhatsApp Web allows you enjoy chats inconspicuously while you are working on your computer.
