ClockWorkMod is a custom recovery option for Android phones that is very useful when you want to install new ROMs, backup and copy ROMs, update and so on. It comes in very handy for developers and people who like to root their phones and install custom firmware. The software was developed by Koush, a well known Android Developer. The stock recovery option that comes with your Android phone is not powerful enough to allow you to perform so many actions with your device.

ClockworkMod is one of the most popular custom recovery options for developers. Most of the custom ROMs made available by developers require ClockworkMod for the installation.

How to install ClockWorkMod on your Samsung device:

First of all, know that you need to have a rooted device in order to install ClockworkMod. The installation process is performed using Rom Manager, the official application to install this custom recovery option.

DID YOU KNOW? Updato offers seamless and guaranteed phone unlocking for any device, carrier and region! It's quick and easy - try it now.

Step1: Download ROM Manager APK from here or simply download it from the market.

Step2: Search for the specific installation package for your phone here or search in the application for your device. Download the .zip file

Step3: Boot into stock recovery mode and press “re-install package” two times. This will load CWM from the downloaded file. The process is now finished and you have ClockworkMod installed on your device.

Important: In order for CWM to work you have to keep the .zip file on your device all the time.

Also if you own a Galaxy S device, you should install ClockWorkMod by installing a custom kernel with built in CWM using ODIN 3 1.7. This is the most accessible way to do it.
