It is kind of weird that Google has left some of the Pixel’s best features disabled by default. One of the most interesting software features that fall in this class is the gesture that puts the fingerprint scanner after you have unlocked your smartphone.
This gesture is referred to ‘Swipe for notifications’ and it performs as expected. When the screen is on, just swipe down the scanner and you will see your notifications and then swipe down again to open the Quick Settings panel. This is an awesome feature that should be activated already. Here is how to enable it.
Enabling ‘Swipe for Notifications’ feature
Go to Moves section in the main settings menu and then activate the switch next to the ‘Swipe for notifications’. It is that easy.

Take a look at other ‘Moves’ since they are just as handy. More so, these features can be turned off if you find them irritating.
With the ‘Jump to Camera’ feature, double clicking on the power button opens the camera application any time even when your screen is off. On the other hand, the ‘Flip camera’ option enables one to switch from rear camera to front camera without touching the screen. This is done by twisting your wrist as you use the camera application.
Using the feature
With the feature enabled, a downward swipe on the fingerprint scanner lets you see your notifications on your device’s screen. Swiping down a second time makes the Quick Settings panels appear. This feature is a simple way of getting a quick status update without moving your thumb to the top of your device.
