Over the years, Huawei has worked itself to be one of the largest smartphone makers in the world, and the Huawei Mate 9 has so far been one of its finest smartphones. However, the company’s market footprint in the U.S. and other Western countries has been minimal, especially compared to competitors such as Samsung. The Mate 9 goes for about $600 in most marketplaces. What I like best about this device is its incredible cameras, lengthy battery life, and record breaking speed. The Mate 9 features a massive 4,000mAh battery. A single charge will no doubt take you through the day, and a second day as well. The 12MP front camera with RGB sensor is quite something, not to forget its fantastic 20MP monochrome back camera. If you’re a photo buff, this phone has got it all for you. The Mate 9 ships with a custom ARM chip, and the Kirin 960. You also get 4GB worth of RAM, and a Snapdragon 821. The phone makes multitasking bliss, and you’ll have fun using its fingerprint sensor. If you own this incredible device, then you should be aware that typically, most apps have their notification deactivated in EMUI 5.0, as Huawei wants to keep the lock screen clean. By default, you’re required to unlock your Huawei Mate 9 to see what is happening with your notifications. But you can now enable lock screen notifications by following the simple set of steps below.

Here is how to set up a lock screen notification.

  1. From your homescreen, scroll down on the notification shade
  2. Launch settings on your phone
  3. Swipe down and hit Apps
  4. Choose app you want to change
  5. Click notifications
  6. Turn on the “display on the lock screen”
If you want to take a peek at each notification without really seeing all its information, you can enable the ‘When locked’ toggle located right above. This essentially allows you to hide the content of each notification till the smartphone is unlocked. In addition to being able to set up lockscreen notifications, the Huawei Mate 9 also comes with a lot of customization options. There’s no limit to what you can do to fine-tune this powerful device to your preferences.
