While the feature of Ambient Display has become quite the norm, almost all devices still sport a notification light. Following in the footsteps of the Google Nexus 6, there is also a way to enable hidden notification light on Google Pixel and Pixel XL, which is turned off by default.
If you just got your hands on the Google Pixel and miss the little notification light popping every now and then, there is a way to fix it. Fortunately, the notification light hidden near the earpiece of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL can be easily activated from the Settings app itself.
Enable Hidden Notification Light on Google Pixel and Pixel XL
From the home screen of your Pixel, slide down to find the gear icon on the status menu, or simply navigate to the app from the app drawer. Scroll down in the Settings menu to find the Notifications menu and tap on it.

In the Notifications menu, you should be able to see the tiny gear icon on the top-right corner of the screen. Press the gear icon and you should be able to see the “Pulse notification light” tab, so tap on the toggle switch next to it.
Now that you have enabled hidden notification light on Google Pixel and Pixel XL, you should be able to see the light every time a notification appears.
