A few weeks ago we heard rumors of Samsung preparing their own virtual reality headset. Today we have more information that can support the rumors. A quick look at the US Patent and Trademark Office shows us that Samsung has filled an application for trademarking ‘Samsung Gear VR’. Judging by the initials ‘VR’ we can only assume that this is the virtual reality device people have been talking about.

We already know that Facebook acquired the virtual technology company that makes Oculus Rift – the most advanced virtual reality device yet. What we also learned today is that Samsung will work with Oculus VR to develop a virtual reality device that will be compatible with Samsung’s Galaxy devices.

It is hard to believe that Samsung will be ready to offer us this new product in September, together with the Note 4, although rumors suggest so. Developing virtual reality technology has proven to be extremely difficult for all of those who wondered in this unexplored territory, but the idea of such a device only makes the waiting more exciting.
