With all the Nexus devices now actively receiving Android 7.0 Nougat, OEM brands are rushing to bring their own version of Nougat to their devices. While Sony had already reported the devices that are expected to receive the Xperia Nougat update, there was no clear information on the timeline, until now.However, an interesting leak by Sony Slovakia during a slide presentation has hinted towards the roadmap of Xperia Nougat updates. The slide essentially revealed that the Sony Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ will be the first devices to receive the Nougat update.Xperia Nougat updateThe Xperia Nougat update for the above two devices is expected to roll out “around October”, which the Xperia X and Xperia X Compact will follow “around November”. In December, the Xperia Z5 series, Xperia Z3+ and the Z4 Tablet will be getting the update later on.Finally, the Xperia XA and XA Ultra will be receiving Nougat somewhere “in early 2017”.

Registration for Xperia X Nougat Beta Program begins

Soon after the news leaked about the Xperia Nougat update roadmap, Sony opened up registration from the Xperia X Nougat Beta Program. While the Sony Xperia X Performance Nougat Beta is available for registration, it is limited to only a few select countries.Xperia Nougat updateThe program is only available in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Netherlands. Sony has confirmed that the number of users they will take in for this beta program is limited. What's my model number?

There are several ways to locate your model number:

Option 1
On your device, go to Settings, then "About device" and scroll down to "Model number"
Option 2
Often times you can view the model number inside the device, by removing the battery
Option 3
Using Samsung's model/serial number location tool
