Not the first time this has been rumored, but the Korean Times is reporting that Samsung and Apple are trying to negotiate a settlement in their ongoing legal battles over patent infringement.Unnamed sources have reportedly told the Times that negotiations are ongoing, and the number of disputed issues is shrinking. These sources indicate both companies are trying to find common ground on which to move forward. Both companies have dropped their appeals of the 2013 ruling of the U.S. International Trade Commission's ruling that Samsung infringed on Apple patents related to touchscreen  user Interface issues and another related to detecting that a headset has been plugged in.And Samsung continues to sell components, including chips and display screens, to Apple, with the latter company being one of Samsung's top three component customers. It would be nice to see these companies, as well as others, competing on product, rather than in the courts. As customers, we would all benefit.
