Android 5.1 updates for Moto X (2013 & 2014) and Moto E {1st and 2nd Gen} have been confirmed. However, some if the handsets like the Moto G (1st Gen and 2nd Gen) won’t be getting the update.

According to Motorola’s product manager, the update for the Moto X will roll out in a few days. The manager said Motorola has begun soaking testing in US on the Android 5.1 update for their retail channels. If the testing proves the update is fine, the company will move to full deployment in a week. David Shuster, the product manager said that the soaking test started in Brazil and Canada on June 10.

As of now, the update for Moto X is halted due to a bug found during the testing. Shuster said that they had detected the issue and they would fix it before full deployment is made.

Android 5.1 update is undergoing testing on the Moto E. However, there isn’t information when the update will be released.

The owners of these handsets should wait for more info from Motorola.
