S Pen

The S pen accessory is the best thing that Samsung Galaxy Note II can offer for its users. You can do almost everything using the S pen which simplifies your work and improve your experience with Samsung Galaxy Note II. Its length of 8mm makes you feel comfortable with it because you can edit documents or do any other action with a high precision.

S Pen Settings

The settings of the S pen can be modified from the Settings menu. You can easily access them by tapping Menu from the home screen and then Settings and S Pen. You can choose from a list of options that you find below:

Dominant hand: you can choose left or right hand when using the S Pen.

Pen attach/detach sound: play a sound when the S Pen has been attached or detached. Select from Off, Sound1, Sound2, or Sound3.

Open Popup Note: mark this option to automatically open Popup Note when the S Pen has been detached.

Battery saving: mark this option to conserve battery life by disabling pen detection when the S Pen is attached.

S Pen keeper: mark this option to alert you when the S Pen has not been attached and the device is moving away.

Air view: touch the slider to turn this feature on/off. When the S Pen is in close proximity to the screen for a while, the Air view feature will appear. Choose from displaying the Pointer, Information preview, Icon labels, and List scrolling.

Sound and haptic feedback: mark this option to enable sound and vibration when you use the S Pen.

Quick Command settings: create and edit a list of quick command gestures for the S Pen.

S Pen help: view information on S Pen usage.

A buddy page will be shown on the screen when the S Pen si detached.

Application Integration

You can write directly into an application using the S Pen. There is an example for creating a Calendar event.

First, you need to open the Calendar app and then tap to enable the Handwriting mode. This feature is available in portrait mode and month view. If you create an event, it will not be attached to your online account. Tap OK and mark Do not show again to hide the message.

You can now use the S Pen to write into the Calendar.

Air View

S Pen experience will always be better with the Air View feature which will detect the S Pen proximity to the screen and will create interaction opportunities for information and user experience. You can view contextual information, preview images and others.

Pointer: when the S Pen is near the screen, the Air view pointer is shown on the screen.

Information preview: when the S Pen is moving over a specific object, an information screen appears.

Zoom in: when the S Pen moves over an image, it will zoom in the image.

Icon labels (by pen nib): when the S Pen moves near an icon, a label pop-up will appear.

List scrolling: When the S Pen moves near the edge of the screen, the list will scroll.
