Sometimes, you take a photo because you see an opportunity or feel the need to take one. Often, you get less than perfect results. Some of the images you capture might be upside down, others might be sideways, or even worse include extra objects or scenery that you didn’t intend to record. For the average user, downloading additional apps or jumping to desktop software such as Photoshop to edit out weaknesses in photos is not just an option. The good news is that you can use the Android gallery app to perform some simple editing tasks to make your pictures much better.Open the image that you want to edit from the gallery then press on the menu button (this menu only shows up when previewing a single photo) then select More. You’ll get a list of editing choices in a pop-up menu. Options available include details, Crop, Set as, Rotate Right, and Rotate Left. Some Android devices might not have all these options, so the list of tools available might be shorter or longer. The Set as option allows you to configure photos to be used for contacts, or as for the wallpaper. Of course, you can add contact photos from the Gmail Contacts online interface, but this is a much better option. The Crop command helps you remove any extra scenery or parts of the photo that you do not want. For instance, if you captured an unwanted image in the background, you can easily iron it out using the Crop feature. Open the image you need to manipulate and load ‘Crop’ from the menu. You’ll be presented with a box that shows in the middle of the photo. You’ll be able to adjust this box so that it’s wider, taller, etc. Press on a side of the box and simply slide it in the desired direction. You’ll also be able to move the entire box around the image after you’ve selected the desired crop size. Once you’re comfortable with everything, press Save to keep your changes. A new photo is created from the changes and the original remains intact in the gallery in case you want to share it as is.You don’t need to download any other photo editing app on Android to be able to perform simple edits such as cropping an image. The gallery app can be a time-saver, and you don’t need to navigate any learning curve to be able to use it on the go.
