Instagram has gained over-night success, winning over up to 100 million users in under two years, and currently said to offer its services to more than 400 million. Aside from being video and photo sharing app, its frequent updates have over the years dramatically transformed Instagram into a solid photo editing tool.
Instagram update version 7.15: Support for Multiple Accounts
The most recent update added multiple account support for the Instagram app both on the Android and iOS platforms.To access this new feature, navigate to your profile settings then scroll to the Add Account option. After adding the second account, you can easily switch between the two by heading to the top of your profile page and tapping on the username you want.
Instagram update version 7.13: 3D Touch
A few months ago, Instagram added a feature similar to iPhone's 3D Touch technology which allows expansion of a thumbnail image. All that one needs to do is, long-press any thumbnail to enlarge the view of the image, as well as the options to Like, Comment or Share, which can be used by swiping your finger over while still pressing the screen.The feature incorporates a nice blur effect for its background, a haptic feedback for when you move your fingers over the buttons below the image along with fluid animations.
Instagram update version 7.5: More Filters
Since its launch, the box or square has been Instagram's trademark when it came to framing photos, meaning each photo shared had to be uniform with the dimensions. This resulted in most users relying on third-party apps to perfectly atune their image. However, Instagram caved and added to more cropping options to the once dominant square option, though it remains the default choice as the photos on users' profile pages still feature a square cropping.Also added were three new filter choices, the Moon, Clarendon and Gingham.
Instagram update version 7.0: Added Search Features
With the release of the v7.0 update, Instagram brought with it a new page referred to as Explore. This new page provides a chance to explore and discover on Instagram, using Instagram hashtags to show you what events and places are trending.On top of that, the search engine was also revamped, making searching by places much easier. In addition the Top Search feature allows you look through people, tags and places at the same time.
Instagram update version 6.20.0: Filters and emoji hashtags
The 6.20.0 update saw three new filters make an appearance on Instagram. This according to Instagram came as an inspiration from 'weekend outdoor adventures'. This included Juno, Lark and Reyes. Juno is primarily meant for pictures of people, adding a warm and glowing effect. Lark is ideal for landscapes, saturated greens and blues, with shades of red. Reyes adds a dusty, somewhat faded filter that makes photos appear dated.You can now search the Explore page and find emojis used in hashtags.
Instagram update version 6.19.0: Color and Fade tools
Color and Fade options added even more photo editing tools to Instagram. With Color, you can use colors such as red, yellow, pink, orange, green, purple, cyan and blue to add a tinted effect to shadows and highlights.
