Though Xiaomi's brand of smartphones haven't established a market in the US just yet,we reckon they'd be selling like hot cakes once they do. An excellent example is their latest Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Pro flagship devices.  Both exceptional smartphones, the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the larger Mi 5 Pro are endowed with some of the best specs and  features on the market, but how can you ensure you get most out of these value for your money handsets? Below are some of the tips and tricks to try out on your new Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Pro smartphones.

Enlarge the text on your phone

Xiaomi devices allow you to make text adjustments ranging from tiny to XL. But just in case that's not enough, there is also an XXL option. Thanks to the MIUI 7 integrated, the Xiaomi Mi 5 device  variants can enlarge the texts up to an XXL size without the rest of the interface being affected. This is really useful for those with eyesight issues or if you want to read something from a distance.

Automatic sorting of  your text messages

Aside from adding an attractive skin,  Xiaomi's MIUI comes with a ton of useful functionality. One of its features that come in handy is the Smart SMS Filter. The purpose of this feature is to prevent you from being bombarded from a bunch of messages in your inbox or annoying Facebook notifications, by having your Mi 5 or Mi 5 Pro automatically sort  them for you. To activate the feature, launch the Messaging App, navigate to Settings and then have the Group Carrier Messages enabled. There is also an option to have messages grouped at a time, for instance, you can have messages from a particular hour grouped in one place.

Keep your phone safe for kids

If you want to keep your child occupied as you run your errands, but you still don't want them accessing all your precious private data, Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Pro have got you covered. These two great devices come with a child mode feature that lets you restrict your child to specific apps on  your phone, making them unable to access anything other than the apps you've chosen. If you don't already have a password or PIN set up for your lock screen, then you'll need to do that first by heading into  Settings >>  Lock screen. Afterwards, under Settings navigate to Child Mode and choose the apps you want your child or niece or nephew to have access to. To unlock the Child Mode,  simply hit the X Button and then type in your set password or PIN.

Instant copy pasting of verification codes and one time passwords

It is not unusual to find online services and websites that need you to employ a one time password.  Xiaomi accommodates this need by giving you a simpler way of copying passwords directly from the notifications. When a message that includes a password or code hits your phone, Xiaomi instantly recognizes it and displays it as a different colored notification while providing you with button to be used in the copying.  This means copy-pasting the code on the site can be done without the need of navigating from the app to the message App.

Reduce your data costs

Xiaomi  Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro comes  with a MIUI browser that has been incorporated with a feature for curbing data usage, similar to the one found in the Opera Max browser. This feature serves as a useful and smart feature for redirecting all your data via the browser's server, this is in turn compresses the data before it can send it to your phone. This can save you up to 50% of data, this comes in handy especially if you are using limited  data. To enable this, head into Settings >>Data Usage >>Data Saver. In addition to saving data, it can also speed up the loading of your videos.

Enable read mode

Having trouble sleeping? The blue light   from your phone could be responsible. However, with Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Pro’s Read Mode feature integrated into its MIUI, you can adjust the color temperature of your screen, susceptible to induce a good night’s sleep. To enable this feature, simply pull the drop down notification tray and tap on Read Mode. If you want to access its Settings and customize to your needs, just press and hold the feature’s icon. What great feature have you discovered on your Mi 5 variant?
