Not to get you mistaken, the Nexus 5X is one great device that has improved by far from the Nexus 5. Also, this is just a look at the sour spots of it and not a review. Some of the rough things found here are about the Nexus device itself while others are related to the operating system. All in all, the two are closely intertwined, so let’s get going with this.

Not what the speakers look like

A look at the prominent dual speakers located at the bezels on the top and bottom will give you an idea of stereo stuff. Truth is that the real sound is only emitting from the bottom vent and even with that, this is not sound that one might consider calling state-of-the-art. For instance, the sound produced when watching Youtube videos is nothing to go by. Despite the Nexus 5X being a great device, there are devices with better rear-facing speakers than these front-facing ones.

Those buttons…hmm

The power buttons that are strategically placed on the right side of this device leave one with much more to desire with their flimsy nature. This has been a problem with many LG devices as noted, with only a few exceptions such as the Nexus 4 which had a sliding siding.

The over-sensing sensor

Some users have complained of the sensor at the back being too sensitive and always giving those vibratory notifications when a scanning error occurs especially when pressed on by mistake. All in all, this sensor is pretty cool especially with its double function feature that makes it power up and unlock the device concomitantly when it’s pressed on, compensating for those flimsy buttons on the side. However, its sensitive nature leaves one wishing that it was rather placed at the front.

Moderation please…

Another big concern for users of the Nexus 5X is its haptic feedback, which many people feel is way too vigorous. This relates to its vibration that is way too loud than the tactile feel itself, loud enough for you to hear even in a room with people talking in average tones. This brings two worries, first being that the internals are likely to wear out fast with time due to too much use. Second is that there is no manual way to adjust this haptic response as much as it may be helpful for those with certain disabilities.

Murky Marshmallows

The display on the Nexus 5X homescreen leaves one with much to wish for. To start with, the columns are five instead of four, making the icons look so tiny despite their permanently enlarged text labels. This will definitely not satisfy especially those folks who have had an encounter with the typical presentation of Google Now Launcher.Another thing that will give you a grim and contorted feeling is the small font size on the Nexus 5X. Even after enlarging the font, it still doesn’t make a big difference. Another grievance that has been aired is the change in font since most people found nothing wrong with Roboto. All in all, the Nexus 5X still remains to be a great device that is worth going for. When considering its smart features such as the sleek design with protruding cameras, you will definitely realize that the balance is toppling over on the good side.
