Samsung has had mixed reaction this year. It had a resounding success on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and an utter disaster when it recalled the Note 7. The company told the users to turn the smartphones off.  Many customers are very keen on purchasing the Galaxy S8.Samsung is still a few months away from the launch of the S8, so there is a limit of what there is about this new device. The smartphone market is easy to predict, so we have a pretty good idea of what is in the handset.

Galaxy S8 release date

The Galaxy S8 is expected to launch early 2017. This is because Samsung has been known to roll out its brand new flagships at the beginning of the year. For the last 2 years, the company has released its brands before the Mobile World Congress begins. The MWC 2017 is expected to start on 27 February meaning that the S8 is set to be released on 26 February. That data has been released by @Ricciolo1, who did leak the launch date of Samsung Galaxy S7, hence it is likely.

Screen

Industry reports have stated that Samsung will launch two versions of the S8s next year which will come with curved screens. According to SamMobile, the two versions will be codenamed Dream 2 and Dream. One will have a 5.5-inch screen and the other one will feature a 5.1-inch screen. The larger display will be 4K while the smaller one is QHD.Samsung is also making a huge push to VR with the Gear VR device. One thing that the VR needs is a sharp screen. The QHD display on the S7 is sharp enough for using it as a smartphone, but it is not quite compatible with the Gear VR. It makes sense for Samsung increasing the resolution at least one one of the versions of the S8.

Design

People love to see changes, this means that the design is likely to be refined. Sammy slightly increased the curve of the back edge of the Samsung Galaxy S7, so expect that of the S8 to be a little more covered like the one in HTC One M9. It might also focus on making the smartphone thinner. The only thing that is rumored about the S8’s design is that it will be ‘slick. That does not inform us much but it is probably true as it comes from the company’s vice chairman.

Camera and battery

One of the hottest leaks on the Galaxy S8 camera is that it will feature a dual-lens camera. It is also featured to carry a 30MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP front camera. We would be a little surprised if Samsung decided to push the rear-facing camera’s megapixels that high. The dual lens camera could only stick on the 5.5-inch versions but a single-lens on the other version (5.1 inches). Samsung has also included a ‘Smart Glow’ feature around the rear-facing camera that flashes in different colors and even light up after they detecting your facing. This means that you can easily take a good selfie with the device’s main camera. The Samsung S8 battery is rumored to have a 4200mAh pack that supports both fast and wireless charging.
